Uplifthealth (locally known as Wandikweza) is a community-led organization that recruits, trains, equips, supports and supervises community health workers who provide preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative care in Malawi. The community health workers proactively search for patients through door to door visits and making referrals to essential services for proper management.
The community health workers give health education, provide services in family planning, newborn screening, and treatment for malaria, diarrhoea and malnutrition in children.
Wandikweza promotes community self-help and community leadership emanating from the peoples’ commitment to the program. It is integration of preventive medicine, health education, and curative care. The emphasis is on prevention and education with expected results in changed lifestyles and conditions.
Community Health Workers (Educators) recognize basic diseases and treat them in the home. They recognize the signs and conditions severe enough to need treatment at the hospital.
Equipping leaders with skills to see and utilize their community assets
Good health is more than just medical elements. our approach deals with the whole person – physically, spiritually, emotionally, and socially.
We believe in a strategy that is broadly aimed toward the whole community, Community Health Evangelism and Education (CHE). This is done by training local people to share spiritual, physical, emotional, and social truths with others within their community.
To improve healthcare in underserved communities by empowering community health workers.
A world where community health workers can provide high quality care to everyone.
